A Visit to the North Tuli Game Reserve

Introduction

I was recently privileged to receive an invitation to spend a fortnight in the North Tuli Game Reserve in eastern Botswana.

The reserve comprises a number of privately owned farms and came into being in the 1960's when the owners decided to take down their fences and allow the game to roam freely across their properties.

I had been in this area myself in the sixties in the course of my duties as a government land surveyor and was keen to see what changes had taken place. At that time I had seen lions, elephants and smaller game, but at a distance. This time I found the game far more plentiful and very much tamer. The eland were somewhat wary, but most other animals hardly bothered to look up when a vehicle stopped right next to them.

I propose to add a short account of the location and history of the area in the near future, but to start I have posted some of the most interesting photographs which I took on my trip.

Beautiful photos indeed. The one of the dust trace of the bird on the window is truly amazing! I have never seen anything like it. Just beautiful.

Love and peace

Tony
